Publisher: New Delhi Journals Pub 2018Edition: Vol.4(2), Jul-Dec.Description: 1-11p.Subject(s): Electrical EngineeringOnline resources: Click here In: International journal of electrical power system and technologySummary: Energy plays an important role in the economy of a developing country like Pakistan. Energy crises have become a major issue all over the world. World population is increasing and the conventional energy resources are decreasing day by day. Pakistan unfortunately has a wide gap between energy production and requirement. The government of Pakistan must take some wise decisions to narrow this gap. Pakistan is a blessed country with different renewable energy resources, which is a lifeline for Pakistan. This paper will give a review about the current critical situation that Pakistan is facing due to energy crisis and what role the renewable resources can play to overcome the energy shortfall. This paper will discuss about the alternatives of non-renewable energy resources such as wind energy solar energy biomass and hydropower. These potentials are far better than conventional non-renewable resources as they can be produced at less cost and hence will be economical as compared to non-renewable resources. The renewable resources are environment-friendly because they do not produce any harmful gases that cause global warming and other kind of environmental pollution. Pakistan is very rich in renewable resources as it is located in a region that experiences all four seasons and also rich in solar energy. The only thing we have to do is to introduce the advanced technology for using these renewable resources. The aged technology is not capable of producing large amount of electricity as a result of which the price of electricity is increasing day by day. The increasing price of electricity is pushing back Pakistan in economy as energy crises have a direct relation with economy of a country. This paper will suggest about the steps that can be taken to overcome this energy crisis.
